If you are considering going to college in Bloomington Indiana, an obvious choice for consideration is going to be Indiana University (IU). IU offers a lot of attractive features for persons considering it for college. Its central location relative to the rest of the country offers reasonable commuting distances for many persons. Just out of range for the “pop-in” by the parents. But close enough that airports are close by and you can hop a flight back home if needed in relatively short and easy order. For sports fans, IU is traditionally a powerhouse in the sports world. And arguably their biggest draw is going to be basketball. IU has a long standing history of being year in, and year out, one of the top college basketball teams in the country. And regardless of whatever their record or ranking may be, they can be a threat to any other team when they meet on the basketball court and are taken seriously.

And while IU basketball may be the first thing that pops in a lot of persons minds, IU has a proud academic reputation as well. 110 academic programs at IU are ranked in the nations Top 20 Best. Recent awards also include recognition by Time Magazine naming Indiana University as its 2001 College of the Year. Quite impressive by anyone’s standards.
